I was astonished at the number of people I had admired who were in the list. I took the decision that I would include a list of some of those people on mikeshaft.com.
Perhaps one of the saddest for me was Alexandra Bastedo. I think she was the first TV star that I really had a crush on.
The Champions was my favourite TV programme and she was the most beautiful thing on it. This is why she is on this list but there are others who are here for different reasons.
Tony Benn, probably the best Prime Minister this country never had. Couldn’t believe I got the opportunity to interview him.
