I have to say I found the whole experience of the return of the British Basketball League (BBL) to the Birmingham area to be a totally inspiring one. I had known for some time that it would happen but the first home game would see the Birmingham Knights taking on the Sheffield Sharks.


Leeds Carnegie’s perfect start to the season came to an end this weekend against Team Northumbria in the National Trophy, losing 83-71 in the North-East.


Worcester Wolves are now the only unbeaten team in the BBL as Glasgow Rocks go down to Plymouth Raiders. Knights (0+3), Surrey (0+3) and Giants (0+4) are all still looking for their first win.


Leeds Carnegie Basketball will look to secure a place in the National Trophy quarter-final this Sunday when they travel north to face Team Northumbria. The game tips off at 4pm at Sport Central on Northumbria University’s main campus.


As the debate over player nationality rages in various sports, British Basketball League Chairman, Ed Percival, is celebrating being immersed in home-grown talent, with British players forming over two thirds of the overall league roster.


London Lions have added to their already impressive pool of home-grown talent with the signing of Great Britain international Matthew Bryan-Amaning.

Mike Tuck's stat line caught the eye on opening weekend but the talismanic forward felt One Health Sharks Sheffield's willingness to look for each other made the difference - and will be key against Plymouth University Raiders tonight (Friday).
