Patrick makes it three

The 6’7″ former German International will re join his team mate Mike Tuck in the new season line up for the Sharks whilst continuing his off court career development with main partners B Braun medical.

Following a disappointing season with injuries hindering his performance, Horstmann is looking forward to a new year with a clean bill of health.

” I am so happy to be back in the team for another year, I want to come back and regain my position as a key member of the squad” said Horstmann.

“Last season was very up and down on so many levels, but for me personally I suffered back to back injuries which hampered my game, I feel back to full fitness and im looking forward to it!”

Horstmann came to the sharks and assumed a post with long term partners of the club Bbraun, whereby he became responsible for developing Braun for childrens community project “B Healthy B Braun”. This saw an interaction between the club and sponsor and introduced schools to basketball through the half time cup whereby schoolchildren competed at sharks games.

“Pat showed a lot of innovation in his ideas for Braun which had a very positive impact on our community programmes and increased the opportunity for young people to access basketball” said Managing Director Sarah Backovic. “His ability on and off the court has proven to be a great asset to the team and I look forward to working him with him again”.

As the Sharks roster continues to come together the club is looking forward to a positive year ahead with the first game of the season on 18 September against the Newcastle Eagles.

“Its all exciting,” continued Backovic. “I am sure that is possibly the toughest start we could have asked for but we share a long history with the Eagles it is never a dull game so we look forward to it. It is only game 1 but im sure it will set the tone in some way!”
