Nick GEORGE

George, who last played with Manchester Giants last season in the BBL, stands at 6’6″, and has a fantastic pedigree in basketball – graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University in the USA, before embarking on a career that took him to some of Europe’s elite clubs and leagues. He was also an instrumental player in the Team GB set up before the 2012 Olympics.

Plymouth Logo 400Raiders Coach Jay Marriott was delighted that George had signed for the Raiders. “He’s a quality player, right across the board, but he is a next level defender. He gets everyone involved in the offence, and is going to be a real bonus for us this year. His experience and ability is something that will fit in great with our guys. He brings a veteran leadership and a work ethic that you don’t often see.”

George will make his first two appearances for the Raiders this weekend, in the BBL Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg in Leicester on Saturday, before returning to the Pavilions on Sunday to face the One Health Sharks Sheffield at 3.45pm.

“This weekend is a fantastic opportunity for Nick and the team,” added Marriott. “It’s a bit of a baptism of fire, with two huge games within days of signing, but I’m confident that he’ll slot very nicely into the team. He arrived in Plymouth on Wednesday afternoon, so he’s had a number of practices with the guys already. He’s ready to go, and can’t wait to get started.”

Tickets are available from the Plymouth Pavilions box office for the Sharks encounter on Sunday. Please call 0845 1461460 or visit the Pavilions website www.plymouthpavilions.com
