SHARKS FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS

In the BBL Championship One Health Sharks Sheffield stormed to the top of the table thanks to an excellent 83-64 victory over Worcester Wolves at the EISS.

The win was based on a dominant third quarter, which saw the Sharks limit their visitors to just six points and extend their advantage from 40-33 at half time to 57-39 entering the last ten minutes.

Sharks scored the first four points of the final period to set up an unassailable advantage.

Elsewhere, Plymouth University Raiders are the second team through to the BBL Cup semi-finals after seeing off Surrey United 57-91. The Raiders, led by 15 points from Matthew Pressey, dominated from start to finish to join cup holders Leicester Riders in the last four.

Champions Leicester Riders joined One Health Sharks Sheffield at the top of the table with an 82-71 home victory over Cheshire Phoenix.

Riders led by just one (68-67) late in the match before four points from Rashad Hassan started a 14-4 run over the last four minutes 10 seconds of the match to seal the victory.

London Lions enjoyed their evening in the West Midlands with a 94-69 win at Birmingham Knights.
Adrien Sturt poured in 29 points off the bench to keep the Knights winless after six games in their first season in the BBL.

The Lions are now tied with Newcastle Eagles in fourth.

GOOD WEEK FOR LIONS SENSATIONAL VICTORY FOR GIANTS

It was a busy Sunday in the BBL with five matches, which produced some excellent team and individual performances.

Surrey United’s Ceslovas Kucinskas was the day’s top scorer with 28 points but his team remain winless as Newcastle Eagles cruised to a 115-71 victory on the road.

Durham were quick out of the blocks on their home floor as they raced into a 37-19 first quarter lead on their way to a 115-69 win against Birmingham Knights.

Another to score three figures and come out on top were Manchester Giants who hit the last nine points of the game to beat Plymouth University Raiders 108-99.

Worcester Wolves ended their three game losing streak with a stylish 92-77 victory north of the border at Glasgow Rocks.

And London Lions reinforced that they’ll be a tough team to beat this season as they travelled to Cheshire Phoenix and came away with an 86-76 win.
