The squad has been selected following a series of preparation games and five weeks in training camp in Surrey Sports Park with the final roster reflecting a mixture of youth and experience. There are eight players from the Olympic squad who continue on to EuroBasket Women as well as Lauren Thomas-Johnson and Steph Gandy who narrowly missed out on selection in the final squad last summer. Youth player, Ella Clark has been selected to the senior squad for the first time with 23 year old Georgia Jones also named to the team.

Standard Life GB players, Roz Mason, Kristie Sheils and Renee Busch all contributed strongly in training and throughout the preparation games but have now been released from camp and will not continue with the team to France this summer.

Head coach, Damian Jennings commented on the final 12: “I would like to firstly thank Roz, Kristie and Renee for making this team better. Their de-selection was a very tough decision and all three players represented themselves incredibly well.

“Although Roz may be coming closer to her final basketball years, Kristie and Renee represent a crop of players coming through from our under-20’s and Futures programmes and I have no doubt both will be back to cement a place in next year’s senior GB team.

“It is exciting to now finish our last few practices with the final 12 players before travelling to France on Wednesday. The spirit of this group has been excellent since day one and I have no doubt the players are looking to representing Great Britain to the best of their ability this summer.”

British Basketball’s National Teams Director, Warwick Cann added: “All players have contributed to a successful training programme and the selection process has been demanding. Challenge for places bodes well for the future with many young players gaining experience at this level this year. The final selection represents a good blend of experience and younger players for the future and I am sure they will conduct themselves well at EuroBasket.”
