Headlining the draw are last season’s Cup runners-up UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders who will host BBL rookies East London Royals at the Pavilions,

Fellow BBL newcomers Manchester Giants also face a road trip as they head up the M6 and over the border to lock horns with Glasgow Rocks.

Durham Wildcats were the new boys this time last summer and it will be interesting to see whether they can advance after a season’s experience to call upon although they also have an away tie in the form of a match-up with Prestige Homes MK Lions.

In the other two first round ties, there are a bunch of teams who certainly know what it takes to deliver success. Mersey Tigers host Guildford Heat while One Health Sharks Sheffield entertain Cheshire Jets.

All games in the first round of the competition will be played during the weekend of the 12-14 October.

Cup holders Newcastle Eagles, Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders and Worcester Wolves are able to relax with a quarter-final place already in the bag after each receiving a bye for finishing in the top three positions of the BBL Championship last season.

The quarter-finals will also be a single leg game ahead of the two-legged semi-finals when the last four teams standing will fight it out to make the 2013 BBL Cup Final on Sunday 13th January at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.
