Through-out 2014, the BBC has been commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the start of World War 1. A major event was held in Albert Square Manchester and I had the great pleasure of hosting the Saturday Events.

One of the regular and most enjoyable dates in the diary is the Sainsbury's School Games. In 2014 the Games took place in Manchester and were based at the Cycling Velodrome, Sport City, Manchester. Our accommodation was at the fabulous Midland Hotel in Manchester. Another awesome event with more great pupils and staff.

This was a fantastic event which took place at the Stockport Art Gallery in August of 2014. It involved me hosting a Question and Answers session on the afternoon of the Conference. It was a totally enjoyable event and seemed to be well received by everyone.

The British Transplant Games have been in existence for over 30 years when the first “Transplant Olympics” took place in Portsmouth in 1978. In 2014 they were staged in Bolton, Greater Manchester. I had the great pleasure of co-hosting the Awesome Closing event at the macron Stadium home of Bolton Wanderers.

Some years ago broadcaster SKY began a series of city centre cycling events known as SKYRIDE. I have had the pleasure of being involved with a number of these. It is always a joy to see the Manchester city centre closed off so that the cyclists could ride in safety.

Well having attended the Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada, Melbourne, Australia and Manchester, I was overjoyed when Glasgow was announced as Hosts for the 2014 Games. I took the opportunity to visit the City and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere as a fan.

I have to admit that it is always a joyous moment for me when I have a new presenter card in my hand. Over the years there have been a number of these and they rather remind me of very special moments in my life. The latest is from BBC Radio Manchester.

I have been hosting the TPAS Awards for a number of years now and it never ceases to amaze me how wonderful this event is. This is what they believe - "We believe in tenants and landlords working together to build great communities". TPAS stands for the Tenants Advisory and Participation Service, and they do wonderful work.

This year I had the great pleasure of hosting the Cheshire 25th Anniversary Sports Awards. It was another joyous event in the calender.

Sometime I just have to sit back and think how lucky I am. I cannot believe that people pay me to do what I do.
