Last Saturday the 9th of December 2023, Manchester came out to party as Soul Central celebrated their 8th Birthday! I had the great pleasure of doing one of my sets. It was another memorable night in Manchester!


And our quest to document every track we play on Colourful Drive on Colourful Radio continues. And as we arrive in summer of 2023 the music just seems to get better and better!

The 2021 City of Champions Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony on Thursday, 23 September, at the Stock Exchange Hotel in Manchester was simply off the scale. The event was a huge success with 150 delegates attending. Speakers included Diane Modahl, Co-Founder and CEO of the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation (DMSF); Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham; and BBC presenter Mike Shaft.


Well after many postponements because of Covid 19, the wonderful Demolition Awards finally took place at the AMEC Stadium in Brighton. It was a truly wonderful event and congratulations must go to all the fabulous winners on the night!


On Wednesday the 30th of September 2020, The Caribbean and African Health Network [CAHN] launched Black History Month with a wonderful on-line event. Our Keynote Speaker was Lord Simon Woolley. Lord Woolley was recently included in the book 100 Great Black Britons. This was his joyous and inspiring presentation.


Following the Government announcement on 22 September that fans will not be allowed back to sporting events, we are currently assessing the impact this will have on professional basketball in the UK.


On Thursday the 31st of October, The Diane Modahl Sports Foundation ‘City of Champions’ Gala Dinner was held at The Hilton Hotel, Manchester. This is an annual event which aims to acknowledge and celebrate the success of people in the areas of sport, education and business, who are giving back to the next generation of champions. I had the great pleasure of playing a small part in the proceedings.


Last weekend, Danum Eagles hosted their All-Star Weekend in Doncaster, and what a magnificent event it was. Players aged from 4 to, in excess of 50 took to the floor for a spectacular display of how joyous basketball can be. Many thanks to all the legends who turned out for the All-Star game, including Charles Smith, Rob Marsden, Jason Swaine, Dirk Williams and Matthew Martin. And thanks to Bob Martin for his continued hard work in promoting the sport, and to all the fans who made it a truly wonderful event!
