Each and every weekday I am absolutely delighted to bring you the very best in Soul, Jazz, Gospel, Chill Zone and much much more on Colourful Drive on Colourful Radio. The show goes out between 4pm and 6pm UK and is available worldwide at www.Colourfulradio.com and on TuneIn Radio

As a concept, the Chill Zone was born some years ago. The idea was to play some of the more laidback tracks in the collection. It has become something rather special because of the quality of the tunes we play and the variety. We are now attempting to document all the Chill Zone tracks that we have played from Day 1 on Colourful Drive on Colourful Radio. We have now decided to add our Colourful Jazz Break tracks as well.

A couple of months ago I had a contact from Kofi at Colourful Radio asking if I would be available to present the Colourful Drive show on Colourful Radio. I have to say I jumped at the idea. Every so often I hope to publish the playlist from the shows to give you an idea of what we are playing.

Yesterday, friends and family gathered to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable individual. His name was Colin Walters! Colin was the founding Programme Controller, then later, Managing Director of Piccadilly Radio and changed the lives of so many individuals including me. The stories told by the likes of Jim Hancock, Brian Beech, Chris Briar and others will live long in the memory. The more personal family contributions were simply beautiful. Having been in this game for quite a long time I have some favourite songs for times like these. I think Vince Gill says it best.

It was 30 years ago today that Sunset Radio launched on the airways across Manchester. It was a wonderful time in Manchester and mikeshaft.com has chronicled every step of the way. This page is a pull together of some of our favourite articles over the years. Hope you enjoy.

Back in 2002 BBC Commonwealth Games Radio took to the airwaves to celebrate the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. Recently a few of the staff got together at Media City for a catch-up. It was a truly joyous event.
