The Dean of Manchester Cathedral is The Rt Rev Rogers Govinda. I have known the Dean for a number of years. Some months ago he invited me to join the Cathedral Council. I considered this an absolute honour. At the end of a recent meeting the Dean wondered why we could not have a Cathedral Radio Station. I answered " We could!" It was at this point that I was invited to "Make it happen". And make it happen we did.

MCR - Manchester Cathedral Radio is the brainchild of Manchester Radio pioneer Mike Shaft who has a long association with the Cathedral. The station will be providing listeners with an insight into the various events taking place at the Cathedral in the run up to Christmas. There will also be a range of features and interviews with key members of Greater Manchester’s Christian community.

Manchester’s imposing Cathedral is the unlikely setting for a ‘pop-up’ DAB digital radio station this Christmas. MCR - Manchester Cathedral Radio will broadcast a unique blend of Christmas songs and features from 9:00am on December 1st through until 6:00pm on January 5th.
