The Doncaster native has signed a contract extension making it his 4th consecutive season as a Shark off the back of a two-year deal he signed in 2018.
The announcement was uniquely made via a Sharks Facebook Live stream at 7:30pm on Wednesday evening, where the Sharks GameDay Announcer, Mike Shaft, revealed Marsden and then proceeded with a short interview.
Sharks Head Coach Atiba Lyons is delighted with Marsden’s return. “It’s great to have Marsden back on board. He embodies what the club is, a tough, bluecollar worker, that puts his head down, works hard and never complains. He sets a great example for our younger guys.”
Marsden, 31, averaged 10.8 points , 5.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists thru all competitions last season. Rob saw a season high of 20 points in September versus former club Manchester Giants and a season high of 12 rebounds in October v Glasgow Rocks both in BBL Cup competitions. He has contributed helping the club reach BBL Trophy runners up in 2018 and a runners-up finish at the 2019-20 British Basketball All-Stars Championship.
Marsden is the Sharks 4th player announcement so far, joining Mike Tuck, Mackey McKnight and Nicholas Lewis.
He concluded by saying, “Really looking forward to another season with the Sharks, especially with the way the last one ended due to the pandemic. The club has done a great job bringing back some familiar faces that will help us pick up where we left off.”
