Audrey began her broadcasting career at Sunset Radio back in the day, actually on Day 1. Her role was to produce and present the 5 minute interview of the day called ‘Just doin’ the job’.

After the success of that feature, where she interviewd numerous people in the Manchester area about their work. Audrey was invited to take over Sunset Tonight programme. This was a roundup of the days news and events presented in a tight 15 minute every weekday.

After Sunset Audrey moved on to ‘The People’ for BBC GMR.

The People is one of the BBC’s longest running Community Programmes, with a remit to consider issues, news, views and concerns from a ‘black perspective’.

Audrey remained with the programme for a sensational 13 years, finally hanging up her headphones in Dec of 2003.

While carrying on her radio work Audrey was now branching out as a freelancer into television. Her freelancing work included being a researcher on a documentary for Granada Television with Geoff Thompson, taking a group of young people out to LA to see the ‘realities’ and consequences of making the wrong choices, courtesy of meeting with the Bloods & The Cripps, a music documentary for the BBC, Arts programmes for GTV, BBC and C4, and ended with a documentary with Paul Sapin on the Telford Hangings, a very harrowing and ‘suspect’ story of ‘suicide’ in one family.

And she was also a researcher for Paul Watson on a documentary pilot looking at drugs and guns and Moss Side, unfortunately the programme ‘Moss Side Story’ sadly did not come to fruition.

In 1999 Audrey went back to University to do a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management. Towards the end of the course she got job at CIS as a copywriter.

Says Audrey, “I did very well at CIS with lots of promotions and ended up 3 years later as Senior Comms Manager and then Publications Manager. CIS became CFS in 2002 when it merged with the Coop Bank, and I was there from 2000 – 2003.”

Audrey joined Lansdowne Publishing in 2003 originally as a Consultant, then ‘went on the books properly’ as LPPL’s Comms and Events Manager. she is now Comms and Events Director, heading up the Comms and Events teams.

The New SUNSET Radio is delighted to welcome one of our original presenters all these years later. She will present a new show between 2 and 4 each Sunday afternoon.

It was a such a relaxing and inspiring experience talking to Audrey about youth and community work. Her open manner and compassionate nature made it easy to honestly discuss and explore key issues around IWW. Thank you for the opportunity!

  17. Loved the vibes on the show last Sunday afternoon with Audrey Hall, Miles Davis with Flamenco Sketches made for such a smooth afternoon…

I wasn’t much of a Jazz aficionado until then, but I’m hooked now, it was emotional and I can’t wait to listen again tomorrow.

    Simply wonderful.

Audrey Hall is the most wonderful radio host. She makes you feel so at home and comfortable. On top of that Geoff and I really enjoyed talking with Audrey about our 23 years of work with the Youth Charter and Audrey is of course now an Advisory Board member to the agency and we look forward to raising the awareness and profile of the agency with her help and that of our other Advisory Board members and Trustees. We look forward to speaking with Audrey again soon and absolutely love the music she plays – great taste!!! You go girl!!! x
