2002 Commonwealth Games Radio broadcast for a total of 6 months across the Manchester area during the Commonwealth Games in the City. It was a glorious time in Manchester and this was a radio station set up to reflect all that was going on.

Sunset Radio was a Radio Station which broadcast in the Manchester area during the late 80s and early 90s. We played the very best black music mixed in with community programmes 24 hours a day.

One of the things of which we are most proud was our jingle package featuring the wonderful voice of Lisa Stansfield. I am delighted to bring you the Sunset Radio main theme here

During the run of 2002 Commonwealth Games Radio, I was lucky enough to present the ‘RISE’ breakfast Show. One of my favourite features was ‘Recently on Rise’. We would take a snippet of one of our many interviews and produce it to give maximum impact to the listener. This is South African actor John Carney talking about his stage production ‘The Island’ which was performed at the Lowry in Salford during the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

During 1994 I was lucky enough to attend the 15th Commonwealth Games in Victoria Canada. I was based at the Number 1 rated station in Victoria, C-FAX 1070. I was also sending reports back to The BAY in Lancaster England. This was the final report I filed from those Games.
