Last Saturday, BBraun celebrated 20 years at their present site in Sheffield. A massive party was held for all the staff and I had the great pleasure of hosting the event. To say a fun day was had by all would be to massively understate the day's proceedings. It was truly joyous!


On Sunday the 27th of January, Sheffield Hatters defeated Sevenoaks Suns in a thrilling Final to lift the first Silverware for the WBBL in the 18/19 Season. It was an absolute joy to, once again, be a part of it!


So what is Mike Shaft up to this Christmas holidays? Well it is certainly a busy period with broadcasting and Basketball at the fore.


The 1st Anniversary and Black History Month Fundraising CAHN Gala took place at the Swanky Mecure Hotel in Manchester on the 27th of October 2018. It was a joy to behold and the reaction on Social Media has been breathtaking. Thank you to everyone who made the night so special.


Last Friday evening, Manchester Cathedral had the 2018 Awards Ceremony for Capture The Cathedral. This is the photographic competition held every year. The competition has, once again, produced some absolutely stunning images of one of the oldest buildings in Manchester. Red by Michael Taylor was named Winner of Architecture and Stained Glass. Cathedral Nave Spin by Lamar Francois was named Winner of the Something Different category. The Overall Winner of Capture the Cathedral 2018, was Red by Michael Taylor.


Well at the end of another very successful season, the Manchester Thunder Players, Staff , Fans, Volunteers and Sponsors got together at Hotel Football for the 2018 Awards. It was joy beyond words!


Well after a years wait, it finally happened. Netball returned to the Manchester Arena and what a day it was! Great crowd, great entertainment, and an awesome performance by the Manchester Thunder to secure a famous victory over the table-topping Wasps.


Cat Carr led Sevenoaks Suns to their second piece of WBBL silverware this season as she was awarded MVP honours in their 69-44 defeat of Leicester Riders in the WBBL Play-Off Final. Carr scored 19 points and added 8 assists and 8 rebounds to help the Suns produce a dominant 40 minutes of basketball at The 02. After the game she praised the team for sticking to their principles: “We just went out and played Sevenoaks Suns basketball,” said Carr.


Last Monday the 30th of April saw the DBL Sharks Sheffield 'End of Season' Dinner. It was, once again, an absolute joy to be a part of it.


Saturday the 14th of April saw the new-look WBBL Betty Codona Trophy Final take place at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village. And what a wonderful event it was. Congratulations must go to the All Conquering Leicester Riders organisation for lifting yet another piece of silverware. The magnificent crowd were also able to celebrate the England Women winning Silver Medals at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
