On Saturday 27th August 2016, Great Britain Men’s Basketball team take on the famous ‘Orange Lions’ of the Netherlands at the newly built National Basketball Performance Centre at Belle Vue Sports Village. Our fantastic Captain David Aliu has announced today his retirement after a amazing professional career. David spent two years as Cheshire Phoenix captain over seasons 14/15 & 15/16 after a spell with Manchester Giants.

The 2015-16 British Basketball League season is officially in the books after the Sheffield Sharks took home the final piece of silverware, defeating Leicester Riders 84-77 in the Molten BBL Play-Off Final.


Sheffield-based haulage and logistics firm DBL Logistics are the new naming rights sponsor of the Sheffield Sharks. The three-year-deal will see the recently crowned British Basketball League (BBL) Molten Play-Off Champions become the DBL Sharks Sheffield from the start of next season.


Without doubt the biggest basketball event in the UK is the Championship Weekend at the NIA Birmingham. This was a 4 team tournament following the Play-offs. There would be 2 semi-finals on Saturday night followed by the Championship Game which would close out the season. Lately this has been just a one night affair with the semi-finals as a two-legged affair.


Rahmon Fletcher has been recognised by BBL coaches for his outstanding work in pulling the strings for Esh Group Eagles Newcastle by being voted the Molten BBL Most Valuable Player for 2015-16.
