Cheshire Phoenix are pleased to announce the appointment of Colin O'Reilly as their new head coach for the 2016-17 season.

The 2015-16 British Basketball League season is officially in the books after the Sheffield Sharks took home the final piece of silverware, defeating Leicester Riders 84-77 in the Molten BBL Play-Off Final.

Sheffield-based haulage and logistics firm DBL Logistics are the new naming rights sponsor of the Sheffield Sharks. The three-year-deal will see the recently crowned British Basketball League (BBL) Molten Play-Off Champions become the DBL Sharks Sheffield from the start of next season.

Without doubt the biggest basketball event in the UK is the Championship Weekend at the NIA Birmingham. This was a 4 team tournament following the Play-offs. There would be 2 semi-finals on Saturday night followed by the Championship Game which would close out the season. Lately this has been just a one night affair with the semi-finals as a two-legged affair.

Rahmon Fletcher has been recognised by BBL coaches for his outstanding work in pulling the strings for Esh Group Eagles Newcastle by being voted the Molten BBL Most Valuable Player for 2015-16.

Leicester Riders' play-caller Rob Paternostro has been crowned the Molten Ed Percival BBL Coach of the Year for 2015-16.

On this page on we acknowledge the BBL Coach of the Year from 1988 through to the present day. In the early days this was dominated by legendary BBL Coach Kevin Cadle and in recent years if anyone has been dominant then it is Fab Flournoy of the Newcastle Eagles. However Rob Paternostro now joins that very select club of Head Coaches who have won the BBL Coach of the Year 3 or more times.

On Wednesday the 20th of April 2016, I was absolutely delighted to be a part of the Sheffield Sharks End of Season celebrations in Sheffield. A wonderful night was had by all, especially as the team had qualified for the 2015/16 Play-Offs and their season was far from over.

The five decades of service given to basketball by former BBL and WBBL Chairman Ed Percival are to be recognised with the re-naming of the Molten BBL Coach of the Year award in his honour.

There may have been a few raised eyebrows when handed the role during the summer, but it seems it was always a case of when, not if, Yorick Williams would take on the role of coaching the Manchester Giants.
