The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks wish to announce the retirement of their long-serving Captain, Mike Tuck.


The British basketball community has come together to pay tribute to the legendary pioneer Betty Codona OBE, who has sadly passed away. 


The 2021 City of Champions Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony on Thursday, 23 September, at the Stock Exchange Hotel in Manchester was simply off the scale. The event was a huge success with 150 delegates attending. Speakers included Diane Modahl, Co-Founder and CEO of the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation (DMSF); Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham; and BBC presenter Mike Shaft.

The British Basketball League is delighted with the support announced today for basketball by the Government. The Government has announced a rescue package of up to £4 million for basketball to address the impact of the absence of spectators because of coronavirus.


The British Basketball League is delighted to announce the return of coverage of the BBL to Sky Sports this season. The two-year agreement will see Sky Sports air 30 live BBL matches a season.

Vitality Netball Superleague Champions Manchester Thunder have released their fixtures for the 2020 Superleague season. All matches will be played at the fabulous Belle Vue Sports Village in Gorton, Manchester. Season tickets for the Thunder are now available.

Back in September of 1998 two colleagues, Deno Tofalos (now deceased), Chris Tofalos and me Mike Shaft published the magazine SHOOTtheHOOP. In that first issue we paid a full tribute to the man himself. It took some time but I finally managed to track down that copy of the magazine. This is part two of that article.
