A good start from Jets, who went into the game in fourth place, saw Timmy Cato open the scoring but it was end-to-end in the first quarter with Mavericks leading for most of the 15-minutes.

However, strong work under the post from Cato and Haythornthwaite meant they eventually edged it and took a one goal lead into the break, the score 14-13.

Megan Clark replaced Lauren Potter in the second and Jets came out strongly.

Despite errors from both sides, it was a positive 15-minutes for the home team as Anna Carter’s team pulled out a six point lead. The half-time score was 31-25.

An unchanged Jets came out determined to extend their lead after the break – and they did. A strong passage of play saw Jets add 14 to their total to end quarter three leading by 10.

In the final quarter, Jets were impressive in attack, mid-court and defence – as they had been all game – and extended their lead in front of an amazing crowd.

The final score was 56-42 to Jets with Tuaine Keenan being named Jets player of the match.

It means Jets are now level on points with Mavericks in the Netball Superleague at the end of round six. The next game for Carter’s side is on Saturday against Celtic Dragons in Cardiff.
