Birmingham Bullets

This photo shows the Birmingham Bullets having just won the BBL Championship game at the Wembley Arena, London, in 1996.

The team included MVP Tony Dorsey, Trevor Gordon, Nigel Lloyd, Clive Allen and Michael Payne.

They had been progressing well through the season and when they acquired Trevor Gordon from the Manchester Giants, they became, in my opinion, a Championship team.

Eventually they would go on to prove me right.

Sheffield Sharks

This photo shows Sheffield Sharks having just won the uni-ball trophy at the NEC, Birmingham, in 1998.

The team included MVP John Amaechi, Mark Robinson, Todd Cauthorn, Deon Hames, Terrell Myers, and the bomb squad of Iain McKinney and Michael Payne.

The team was coached by Chris Finch who is now an Assistant Coach with the Houston Rockets in the NBA.

London Towers in Europe

Once upon a time back in the day British Basketball was represented at the very top of European Basketball when The London Towers took part in Euroleague 2001.

Players of the calibre of Pau Gasol would visit Crystal Palace in London with his Barcelona team.
