We headed off to our retreat, The Green Roof Inn. We'd booked the bungalow, a single roomed wooden building with a bathroom, set away from the main house. The bed which was huge and covered in netting took up most of the room. Immediately outside was seating and the sea was a hop, skip and jump away but not accessible.


It's 3.20am, we are 5 hours behind you in the UK and my body doesn't want any more sleep. (We had gone to bed about 8 pm thinking it was much later)


In May of 2014 I had a trip to Carriacou and Grenada in the Caribbean. It was a trip of sadness and joy. I was there to attend a funeral, but having never returned since leaving 46 years ago, there was an awful lot to see.


The BBL Championship is the flagship competition of the British Basketball League and features all member teams playing a 33-game regular season, from September to April. Matches are played according to FIBA rules and games consist of four-quarters of 10 minutes each. Two points are awarded for a win, with overtime used if the score is tied at the final buzzer – unlimited numbers of 5-minute overtime periods are played until one team is ahead when a period ends.


Worcester Wolves' BBL Play-off final victory over Esh Group Eagles Newcastle on Sunday was a fitting climax to a memorable season for Paul James' side.


Well one of the most anticipated announcements close to the end of each BBL season is that of the BBL MVP. As well as being the most anticipated, it is also, probably, the most contentious. However, the decision lies with those who are tasked with taking that decision and it is those MVPs that we celebrate on this page here on mikeshaft.com.

Capture the Cathedral is an annual photographic competition hosted by Manchester Cathedral where photographers are invited to photograph any aspect of the Cathedral. These can then be entered into the competition in one of three categories.
