Sharks Icing

Worcester Wolves and Glasgow Rocks both punched semi-final tickets via their respective quarter-final victories over the weekend, joining Cheshire Phoenix and current Trophy holders One Health Sharks Sheffield in the draw.

Wolves completed a fabulous 86-73 win at Esh Group Eagles Newcastle as Zaire Taylor and Jamal Williams combined for a fantastic 47 points, to fire Paul James’ team to within touching distance of their first ever showpiece final.

And, they will have to overcome the defending champions if they want to make it to the finale of the tournament, after they were drawn against One Health Sharks Sheffield in the semi-finals.

Glasgow Rocks meanwhile grabbed the last semi-final berth in the most dramatic of circumstances to maintain their dream of contesting the Final on their home floor.

Gareth Murray fired 24 points and proved to be the match-winner in an absorbing 73-71 last eight success at Manchester Giants.

The Rocks will now meet another north-west based club in the semi-finals after being pitched against Cheshire Phoenix.

The 2014 BBL Trophy semi-final line-up is as follows:

Glasgow Rocks v Cheshire Phoenix
Worcester Wolves v One Health Sharks Sheffield

The semi-finals will be played on two-legged basis and confirmation of dates for all semi-finals games will be confirmed in the near future.

The Final will once again take place at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, a venue which proved to be a fitting backdrop for last years’ dramatic conclusion to the competition.
