Carnegie opened Friday night’s game at pace securing a 6 point lead by the end of the first quarter. However the game’s momentum quickly swung as Tees Valley picked apart Leeds defense to score 28 points in the second period. This put Carnegie down by 9 points at the half time break.

The third quarter became more defensively focused as both teams looked to stifle the other’s offensive output. The Mohawks stretched their lead slightly to 9 points to take into the final period.

Carnegie pushed the Mohawks all the way to the buzzer and brought the game back to just one point in the closing stages before Tees Valley were able to secure the 74-78 win from the free throw line.

Leeds scoring was led by Armand Anebo with 18 points and 12 rebounds supported by Darrell Bethune and Paul Holland with 16 points each. Tees Valley’s scoring was led by Jorge Ebanks and Jerome Narcisse with 17 points each.

Carnegie’s fortunes changed on Sunday when they faced the Leicester Warriors. After a difficult first quarter Leeds were able to dominate the game on the back of an impressive defensive effort in both the second and third quarter, where they limited Leicester to just 12 points in 20 minutes.

Carnegie closed out the 51-71 on the back of 22 points from Armand Anebo and 15 points from Darrell Bethune. The Warriors scoring was led by Mansour Mbye with 15 points.

The weekend’s results have moved Carnegie up one league place to 7th as they prepare for this Friday’s game against Team Northumbria. The game tips off at 7:30pm at the Leeds Metropolitan University Sports Arena with tickets available through the club’s website, www.leedscarnegiebasketball.co.uk.
