Wildcats stopped a three-game losing streak with a dominant display against the Knights, giving them a strong platform to build from heading into a crucial period.

“We’ve been focusing on putting together 40 consistent minutes of good work and we were almost there during the Birmingham game,” said Davie.

“The win was important for us as it takes us one step closer to our goals and helps us build momentum heading into the next four games that we have keyed as ‘must wins’.

“We’ve learnt a lot about ourselves from the previous three losses and we’re looking forward to the opportunity of righting some of those wrongs over the next two weeks.”

That starts this weekend with a home game against Glasgow Rocks and then this trip to Cheshire, where they plan to unsettle the new-look Phoenix.

Davie added: “Cheshire have some serious offensive fire-power with a guy at each position capable of scoring 20 points.

“With them still trying to integrate their new pieces, defensively we need to make things as difficult as possible, disrupting their timing and spacing while winning the rebounding battle is going to be key.

“Offensively we need to space the floor to attack their bigs.”

Last time they met:

What they say:

Wildcats guard Danny Huffor: “It was important to us (to beat Birmingham) because we wanted to get back in that winning mentality again, especially with the upcoming stretch of games we have.

“We need to come out and play hard from the start of the game to the finish and limit their runs.

“We focus on everything but right now it’s the little details, and limiting the other team’s runs that are the most important things.”

Phoenix coach John Lavery: “We are moving forward from what we were doing a few weeks ago.

“Our six losses have been to Sheffield, twice, Leicester, twice, Worcester, once and Newcastle once, they are all teams that will be at the top challenging for silverware.

“We have just got to get over that little hill and get that win, then we will be fine.”
