As expected the opening stages of the game were offensively dominated as both teams looked to find their rhythm early on. The deadlock couldn’t be broken though as the teams were tied on 22 points at the end of the first quarter.

Carnegie stepped up their defensive effort in the second period managing to limit Bradford to just 9 points in the second quarter. This gave Leeds an 8 point lead at the half time break.

Carnegie continued to limit the Dragons offensive threats throughout the third period and opened their lead out to 14 points with 10 minutes left to play. Bradford however did not give up and pushed Carnegie all the way to the final buzzer. The victory was finally secured in the closing seconds when Armand Anebo stole an inbound pass which was finished off with a trademark Rowell Graham-Bell dunk.

Leeds scoring was led by Captain Jack Stannard with 26 points supported by Josh McGinn with 15. Big man Chris McGrew led Bradford’s scorers with 19 points.

Carnegie will now prepare for a home double header weekend against Reading Rockets at 7:30pm on Saturday followed on Sunday by a match up with Medway Park Crusaders at 4pm. Both games are at Leeds Met Sports Arena on their Headingley Campus.

Tickets are available online through the club’s website as well as on the door.
