WOLVES DEFEAT EAGLES AT SPORT CENTRAL AND MOVE TO 6 And 0


In a well-fought battle between the British Basketball League (BBL) leaders in Newcastle, Worcester Wolves clinched their sixth consecutive victory in the Championship after defeating Esh Group Eagles Newcastle 80-71 on Friday evening.

Elsewhere, One Health Sharks Sheffield and London Lions celebrated wins at home. Sharks improved to a 5-1 record and climbed to the second position in the league standings, with an 81-67 home win against Durham Wildcats, who lost for the second time in four games.

Meanwhile, Lions registered a 100-92 victory against Plymouth University Raiders, who made a late comeback, but fell short in the last minutes. The victory improved the London club’s mark in the BBL to 3-2 and snapped Plymouth’s three-game winning streak.

In a busy Sunday of BBL Championship action Manchester Giants picked up their first win of the season as they held off Birmingham Knights 101-83.

There were also victories for London Lions 80-77 over the visiting Glasgow Rocks, Plymouth University Raiders 85-73 in Devon against Durham Wildcats and Cheshire Phoenix 99-70 against Surrey United.

Birmingham and Surrey remain winless in the BBL while London and Plymouth both now have four victories to their name. Worcester Wolves are top with six wins from six matches after the weekend’s games.
