The game is the Hoops 4 Health (promoted as Jump2it in Scotland) British Champion of Champions event when the English Champions St. Aloysius Primary School Hebburn, Newcastle take on Scottish Champions St Benedict’s Primary RC School, Easterhouse, Glasgow. Both schools will be no strangers to the big stage however with St. Aloysius qualifying by winning the Hoops 4 Health English final at Wembley Arena prior to the BBL Play Off in April and St. Benedict’s winning the Jump2it Scottish national finals at the Emirates Arena earlier in that month.

The event is a partnership between the BBL Foundation & British Basketball to promote the current legacy work within the sport that encourages basketball participation amongst young people across the United Kingdom.

Gary Atyes, COO for the BBL Foundation commented “This is a fantastic opportunity for these children to be playing in one of the London 2012 venue’s just 12 months after the Olympic games took place, and we are grateful to British Basketball for their support by including it in the event schedule

Sinéad Gordon, Head of Basketball Operations at British Basketball, has highlighted the importance of the Hoops 4 Health Programme and urged fans to come early and get behind the aspiring stars of GB Basketball’s future, she said: “This is what London 2012 was all about – creating a legacy that encourages the development of more sports facilities and encouraging more participation in schools sports. British Basketball are delighted to be able to play our part in inspiring the next generation of basketball players.”

Although it will be a fantastic occasion for the two schools in front of what’s expected to be a capacity sell-out crowd, there is no doubt it will keenly contested as with all England Vs. Scotland encounters. Doors open at 12pm and this game takes place at 12.25pm. Following this game there will be a Help For Heroes and British Wheelchair Basketball exhibition game leading up to the main feature at 3pm when GB will be looking for their first win against Puerto Rico.

A few tickets are still available for the game and can be obtained by visiting www.theticketfactory.com or by calling 0844 338 8000.
