Back in 2002 during the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, I was working at BBC 2002 Commonwealth Games Radio. I got a phone call from the Manager of BBC GMR asking if I was available to present their Sunday Breakfast programme as holiday cover. That was the start of a relationship which has now lasted over 10 years and continues to go from strength to strength.

It is 10 o'clock on Sunday morning on the 17th of February and I am in the car park of the Amaechi Centre in Manchester. I have just finished the Sunday Breakfast show on BBC Radio Manchester and I am here to see Game 1 of the England Basketball U16 Men's National Finals.

So yesterday, I check out the basketball schedules and I decide that a road trip was in order. The Sheffield Junior Sharks were playing 2 Cup Semi-Finals against Manchester/Trafford at the EISS, Sheffield and I really wanted to see these games. However The Cheshire Jets were also playing at home against the Leicester Riders in the BBL Trophy and the situation there was really interesting.
